RT @Abhisheka: I've followed @shreyas 's writing for years. This week I finally took his Product Sense course. It had almost no frameworks. What it had was a way of thinking. One week in, I've already rebuilt my product's homepage because of it. Started where I was, with what I had. https://twitter.com/Abhisheka/status/2106888903231992120/photo/1

Most mid-career product people who are doing reasonably well make 2 implicit assumptions that affect their quality of life: 1. the ceiling of key product skills is just an inch higher than where they are now (i.e. they’re basically already at the ceiling) 2. the point of any upskilling is to get a better job in the future (via a promotion or changing jobs) Both assumptions are false and harmful, but assumption #2 is what’s actually holding them back from the work-life balance they seek at this point in their life. Because they only see upskilling as an investment in a future job, it gets tossed into the “later” pile. And when you’re this busy, that “later” never comes. You see, they are very busy & stressed in their job, thanks to all the career success they’ve had thus far. Success brought them more scope, but operating well below the true ceiling of product leadership skills means that scope eats far more of their time than it needs to. What they fail to see is that upskilling up to the true ceiling will free up a pretty big chunk of the time they’re currently spending being super-busy in their job. So they stay stuck in an infinite loop: too busy to upskill, and too busy because they haven’t upskilled. They’ve been in this loop for so long that they cannot imagine a way out, even though upskilling is the way out.

How important is networking, and how do I build it as a skill? What advice and decision frameworks do you recommend for people considering starting their own startup? How do you improve your creativity? How do I succeed in driving vision and the roadmap when I don’t yet have in-depth knowledge of the domain? How do I build credibility with my peers and the org before I’ve shipped anything? As a soft-spoken introvert, I wonder if I’m at a disadvantage when it comes to networking and self-advocacy? Any tips on how to develop and sustain clarity of thought? How do I tell everyday frustration from a real reason to leave? How do you objectively benchmark your skill level against peers and the industry? How do you think about avoiding burnout and staying motivated long term? How do I actually switch domains when recruiters pigeonhole me?

If you have clarity of thought on a topic (which comes via authentic experience & understanding), writing it without AI - anything, a blog post, a strategy doc, an important email - takes way less time than making AI write it. Such writing also tends to be clearer for the reader.

RT @dalexeenko: This is a treasure trove of hard-earned lessons. 1/ Shortly after I joined Stripe in 2019, we all went to Convergence (Stripe's employee conference). My manager pulled me aside and said: "You have to talk to Shreyas. You'll learn a ton". He was so right. I was lucky to learn from Shreyas during our time together at Stripe. 2/ Shreyas's video on talking to executives is spot on. At Cloudflare I had the opportunity to present to the entire C-suite every month on a critical initiative. I had to learn how to communicate with executives through my own mistakes. "CxO doesn't want to hear why X is impossible because of how card networks work. Work with Stripe, Treasury, and Finance to figure it out". → "Communicate at their level, not your level". I wish I'd seen Shreyas’s video back then!

RT @deanbloembergen: THRILLED to share that https://owner.com/ has raised a $240M Series D and is now valued at $2.3B! 🚀🦄 6 years ago, we set out on a mission to level the playing field for local business owners. Why? Because we believe local businesses are sacred. Each one reflects the unique DNA of its owner: their story, their spirit, their craft. They bring life and connection to our neighborhoods. But they're being crushed by massive corporations with billions to spend on tech, AI, and marketing. Running a local business is like being David facing an army of Goliaths. Owner exists to change that. This round was led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, joined by Meritech, Redpoint, Headline, & Jack Altman. RT @bluewmist: You'll regret it if you get married, you'll regret it if you don't get married. You'll regret it if you have kids and you'll regret it if you don't. Kierkegaard said this 200 years ago as follows - whatever you choose, you'll regret it, because the problem isn't in your choices, it's in romanticizing your life. A person always finds an untravelled path alluring and mysterious. That's why the issue isn't making the right choice. It's choosing and deciding which regret you'll live with. In life, we must choose our regret.
